In the beginning
My first time on cross-country skis was a near disaster.
Everything was wrong. Well， at least two major factors
were wrong.
Wrong attitude
First， my attitude was not the best. I lived in Sun Valley，
Idaho， one of the Alpine ski capitals of the world， and looked
with almost disdain at this so-called sport that had little old
ladies shuffling across the golf course. None of that stuff for
me. I was too intent on learning the more daring， exciting，
and， looking back， almost suicidal downhill skiing. Thus， I
was less than enthusiastic about my magazine assignment on
cross-country skiing.
