The Author would therefore recommend that, before commencing the study of the drugs of any particular order, reference should be first made to the Table of Contents, when the position of the order will be seen, the names and number of medicinal plants treated of which it contains, and the parts and products of each which are used in medicine. By studying in this way the student will acquire not only a special knowledge of the several drugs, but also a general acquaintance with the several groups in which they are arranged and classified.
