From the July, 2003 conference dedicated to the management of risk and uncertainty in civil engineering come 228 peer-reviewed papers and a trio of keynote papers. The keynote papers (addressing general risk analysis, risk analysis for flood protection systems in the Netherlands, and socially relevant structural safety) are followed, in the first volume, by sections devoted to the themes of reliability methods, uncertainty analysis, stochastic methods, system identification and model selection, damage and deterioration, risk assessment and management, and hazard analysis. The second volume contains papers discussing probabilistic design, risk-based optimal design, maintenance and inspection, concrete and wood structures, geoengineering, earthquake engineering, wind engineering, and bridges and special structures.
