This book describes a challenging new approach to language learnig and teaching. Derived from the authoritative Cobuild Project at the University of Birmingham, the lexical syllabus has been shaped by extensive evidencie of what is really important in today´s English. Cobuild research has established that the 700 most frequent words of English account for 70 per cent of all English text. the most frequent 1500 words account for around 76 per cent of text, and the most frequent 2500 words for 80 per cent.
